At Murray and Sons, you can now use our dumpsters to collect all your yard trimmings. No need to wait for the city to come and get them.
Yard trimmings are collected weekly on your designated collection day. To ensure that yard trimmings are not contaminated with other waste, please follow these guidelines:
Please remove all metal, plastic, fabric and other materials from bags, bundles and cans to help reduce contamination and disposal costs. Metal can be recycled at a scrapyard or sold as scrap metal. If you have large amounts of reusable plastics that are clean, they may be accepted by local processors in your area. Please contact your local government recycling program for more information about the best way to dispose of plastics in your area.
E-waste is hazardous and should be disposed of properly. Electronic waste (E-waste) such as computers, cellphones, batteries, and other electronic devices should not be put in the trash or yard trimmings. E-waste can contain harmful chemicals that can leach into groundwater if not properly managed. E-waste can also cause serious health problems if they are handled improperly during recycling or disposal processes.
Please visit Recycle Often Recycle Right to find out where you can drop them off for recycling or disposal.
You can help us keep our city beautiful and clean by recycling or composting your plastic bags. They are not accepted in any recycling or composting program. They also don’t break down in landfills, which means that if you throw them away, they will never go away.
Plastic bags are not recyclable, compostable, nor biodegradable! Please reuse your plastic bags whenever possible instead of throwing them away with other items that can be recycled through our curbside collection program (i.e., newspapers). If you have to dispose of a bag that has been contaminated with wet trash (like grass clippings), please put the wet contents into a separate bin and place the plastic bag into an extraneous container outside your curbside collection area for pickup within 24 hours after it becomes contaminated with wet materials such as grass clippings or food waste (example: when transporting raw meat).
