Why Mow Your Lawn with a Push Mower?
April 20, 2023It’s spring! Time to get out there, mow that lawn, and clean up all the debris left over from winter. But wait, don’t do it just yet! There are some things you can do now that will save you time later on. This guide will help you know what to do this spring and how to get everything done in a weekend (or even one day).
Spring Yard Maintenance
Mow the lawn
- Mow the lawn as often as possible.
- Mow in the direction of the grass blades, not against them. This will make it easier for your mower to cut through them and reduce clumping, which can lead to disease and pest problems later on.
- Use a sharp blade on your mower at all times; dull blades tear up grass instead of cutting it cleanly off at its base (which means more work for you). Check any time you’re using your mower: if there’s any damage to the blade, replace it immediately!
Start a compost pile
Composting is a great way to recycle yard waste, and it’s a great way to help your garden grow. Compost adds nutrients to the soil, which in turn helps plants grow healthier and stronger.
Composting can be done in a backyard or on any piece of land that has access to sunlight and water. You can even compost indoors if you have enough room! It’s really easy–the only thing you need are some containers for storing food scraps, an area where it will get direct sunlight (preferably not under trees), water every few days if possible, and some patience while waiting for things like fruit peels or coffee grounds to break down into usable compost material over time
Add mulch to plant beds
- Add mulch to plant beds.
Mulch helps keep plants moist and cool, which makes them more resistant to disease. It also prevents weeds from growing in your lawn or garden. Use organic mulches such as shredded leaves, bark or straw–about 3 inches deep–year round for best results!
Clean up leaves and plant debris.
If you want to keep your yard looking its best, you’ll need to get the leaves out of it. Leaves are unsightly and can be harmful for your lawn if left alone for too long. They also tend to attract pests such as termites, ants and other bugs that will eat up your grass. The best way to remove leaves is by raking them into piles and then disposing of them in bags or trash cans lined with plastic bags (if possible). If this isn’t possible because there are too many leaves on the ground then hiring professional landscapers who specialize in leaf removal services may be worth considering!
You can do all of your yard maintenance in a day or a weekend.
